The Frathouse CyberCafe is more than a physical and virtual gathering spot for gamers and fraternity members. The Frathouse is more than just four walls, brick, and wood. The Frathouse strives to be a beacon of hope not only in our community in Spartanburg SC but in every community where there are depritech youth. Depritech is term used to describe an individual deprived or has limited access to technology. If the Frathouse has been labeled as the "house that gaming built' then we should also acknowledge the the "spirit of activism" is the power it runs on!
The actual physical location of the Frathouse is the host to most of the events facilitated by Delta Beta Lambda Fraternity Inc. These events range from basic socializing to some of the most competitive gaming tournaments witnessed. However the most important activity held at the Frathouse is its daily after school program.
Whoever would have guessed that the same computers used for competitive gaming would also be used to cultivate the minds of our greatest resource, our children. Every computer in the Frathouse has been uploaded with the latest educational software. Frathouse staff provides both group and one on on tutoring, tailoring study sessions to the needs of the individual child. The Frathouse and its staff are determined to make a stand in bridging the technological divide and personify the message of no child left behind.
You are cordially invited to the Frathouse. When you enter I challenge you to take mental pictures of the sights, close your eyes, and process the sounds. Can you hear and feel the spirits of children safe at play? Can you feel the competitive drive of the human spirit? Can you feel the warmth, a quickening in your soul? You do don't you? Well friend that's the Frathouse's way of saying welcome home.
